Disclaimer

If you do not know me (I mean, really know me) then there is something you need to understand before you read this blog: I value the truth above everything else... except a good laugh. A good laugh will almost always beat the truth as far as I’m concerned. Everything you read on this blog will be true, somewhat true, or something I made up in an effort to get a laugh. Sometimes I will go on a rant that I don’t really mean (or only kind of mean). Sometimes I will mean what I write only to completely change my mind a year, month, or day later. Such is life. By reading this blog you agree not to get offended by anything I write (or, at the very least, you agree not to tell me or anyone else that you are offended). It is worth noting that my employer does not endorse my blog (or even read it, to tell you the truth). The Wife also does not endorse my blog (though she will read it from time to time). I am not paid to write this... it’s just my way of giving back to the community. I have, and will, touch on a wide range of subjects and will give my opinion on these subjects. Again, most of what I say is for laughs but every now and then I will say what I really think and feel (see my views on Westboro Baptist Cult). How will you know when I’m serious and when I’m trying to get a laugh? You’ll know. And if you don’t know, well... maybe this isn’t the best thing for you to be reading. So, sit back, read and enjoy. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for their support of team I’m just sayin… in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s this year. Because of your support, we were able to raise over $4,000!!!!!!!! I know I like to joke around on here… but in this I am as serious as I can be: Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Words cannot express how much I appreciate your support. For some, this was your first time donating to us and I am happy you decided to give. Many of you have been giving for as long as I’ve been asking and I am very grateful for your continued support. I know everyone has options when it comes to what they are going to do with their money and you chose to give not only to this cause, but to my team. Again, I thank you.

I would also like to thank the members of my team. I was (and still am) humbled by their willingness to help raise money AND give up their Saturday morning to come to the event. I’m sure I wasn’t the reason they came out, but I was still humbled by it. This was the most enjoyable walk for me because they were with me. Early on in my Walk participation, I was just there with people from work. Then Mary Ruth started joining me a few years into it. Once or twice, The Wife and all of The Kids would join me (but there were still some years it was just me and Mary Ruth or me and Mary Ruth and Susie). Last year we set a record for number of I’m just sayin… team members when my cousin Susan joined me, The Wife, Mary Ruth, Susie and Daniel. This year was bigger and better than ever! As you will see in the below pictures, we had 13 team members this year. Not only that… we also set an I’m just sayin… team record for money raised by people not named Greg. The Wife raised $1,000 making this the first year ever that team I’m just sayin… had two team members raise $1,000 or more (me and The Wife)!!!!! How great is THAT?!?!?! Before we get to the pictures, I just want to again thank all of you who supported us. I’d also like to thank:

Mom and Dad for leaving James Island on a Saturday morning to go to North Charleston (not something one does if they don’t have to when one lives on The Island) to participate in the Walk.

The Wife for really jumping into the fundraising this year and bringing in $1,000!

Mary Ruth for always being excited for the Walk each year and for being happy/excited/touched whenever someone donated to her.

Susie and Daniel for being good little walkers and not complaining (too much) on a two mile walk.

Teresa Lynn and Leah for raising money for the cause this year and for coming down for the Walk.

Sonny for raising money and for leaving his home way too early on a Saturday morning to drive down to North Charleston… walk a couple of miles with his little… err… younger brother and then go with me to see where we are going to build the new I’m just sayin… office building… then drive all the way back to the upper part of this great state. Also, for giving Daniel a piggy back ride for some of the Walk. I think it’s safe to say Daniel LOVES his Uncle Sonny.

My brother-in-law Brent, Ansley and Meredith for giving up their Saturday morning to come down and be with us at the Walk.

I had other family that couldn’t make it this year to the Walk, but they still donated and asked other friends and family on social media to also donate and to them I also say THANK YOU! It was pretty cool when I would get a notification email letting me know we’d received a donation… looking at the name on the email and thinking, “Who is this?”… then going on the Facebook to find out “Oh… that’s so and so’s friend”. So I don’t want you to think I forgot about any of you just because you couldn’t be at the Walk.

If you wanted to donate, but forgot… don’t worry, we’re still accepting donations here...

If you couldn’t give (or just didn’t want to)… don’t worry, I’m not mad at you. I understand. Like my Labor Day Uncle DG told me, we all have choices to make (they chose me, by the way). So, for those who couldn’t/didn’t, I understand… but for those who did, just know that I will remember and always be thankful for your donation.

Below are some pics from our 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s…

Team I'm just sayin... is Meredith, Teresa Lynn, Sonny, Mom, Dad, Brent, Ansley, Susie, me, Daniel, The Wife, Mary Ruth and Leah

Sonny, me and Teresa Lynn

Mom and Dad with their favorite child (and Sonny and Teresa Lynn)

A pic of the crowd

Another pic of the crowd

Me and Sonny

Daniel catching a ride with Uncle Sonny

You can tell from their smiles which one is being carried and which one is doing the carrying

Susie with her Ansley

Leah, Mary Ruth, Ansley and Susie

Me and Ansley (and some older lady behind us who just walked around smiling at cameras/phones)

Me and Leah

Dad and Mom (followed by Daniel and Sonny)

This was the perfect walking combo... Daniel liked talking and Sonny liked not talking

Susie decided to jump on for a ride... until her cast almost choked me out

A view of the flower garden (fyi... this pics aren't in order)
Mom and Teresa Lynn

The could have walked faster if Mom hadn't had to carry Teresa Lynn...

I told the kids to act like a train was coming... I think he over-acted a little...

Susie was a little better in her expression

Mary Ruth also had a good look of concern

The happiest time of the walk for Mom and Dad was when I was beside them (*note: They never actually said this using words)

Susie and Ansley

Another pic of Susie on my back

A walk through the flower garden

My 3 little walkers

One last time... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
